Direct candidate sourcing, a shortlist of 3–5 pre-screened candidates and billing that begins after applicants are sent to you. BEGHR handles your account and invoices, issued at least monthly during billable service delivery. A 45-day replacement provision applies under the engagement terms. Your practice interviews the candidates and hires the successful veterinarian directly.

Veterinary roles we recruit

Who does your practice
need to hire?

Choose the recruitment service for your vacancy, from a general-practice associate to a specialist or multi-hospital leader.

For Albuquerque veterinary employers

One metro, four counties.
Specific hospital assignments.

An Old Town associate role, a Rio Rancho medical director search and a Moriarty large-animal appointment need different briefs. Start with the hospital address, county, clinical resources and schedule, then agree the search with BEGHR.

Associate veterinarians

Specify independent procedures, appointment capacity and doctor overlap. If recruiting a new graduate, name the mentor and protect teaching time; New Mexico counts continuing education from the next full licensing year after the first license, so plan the first year’s hours.

Plan an associate search →

Specialist and emergency appointments

Define the discipline, required credentials, shift pattern and resources already available. Explain referral communication, overnight staffing and inpatient handover, and name the technicians who support the shift.

Scope a specialist role →

Medical and regional leadership

List the hospitals and decision authority. Say whether the title carries the licensee manager duty under the facility rule, separate clinical workload from protected time for coaching and standards, and set out how delegation to technicians is supervised.

Define a medical director role →

Put the hospital address, county and site details in the brief.

Use the actual work address, the county and any additional facilities. Do not present a Moriarty or Belen vacancy as interchangeable with an Albuquerque hospital. A rotating role should state which days belong to which site and whether movement between sites happens between working days or during a clinical shift.

Keep one clear decision process.

Choose the clinical and operational interviewers, confirm the employer-approved package and identify who can authorize an offer. Use the same role-related criteria for every candidate and give one person responsibility for feedback. Confirm the candidate’s New Mexico license status and the state controlled substance registration before a start date is set. Review the hiring brief and candidate scorecard before outreach.

Choose the service that matches the vacancy.

This is permanent placement for employers. Your practice hires the selected candidate directly. An immediate relief shift needs a separate arrangement; this service does not promise a locum available today. Job seekers can start with BEGHR’s veterinary placement page; the pricing form here is for employer inquiries.

Albuquerque veterinary hiring context for employers

The New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine’s licensing publication says that renewal is annual with no grace period, and that licensure requires the New Mexico Veterinary State Examination, which covers jurisprudence and which endorsement applicants also take without needing national examination scores. Rule 16.25.4 NMAC requires 15 instructional hours of continuing education in each year of licensure, and Rule 16.25.2 NMAC allows endorsement for a veterinarian licensed in another state with at least five years and 6,000 hours of clinical practice immediately before applying. Rule 16.25.7 NMAC requires a facility license for every facility where veterinary medicine regularly occurs, and a hospital not owned by a New Mexico licensed veterinarian must name a licensee manager or responsible DVM. The New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association’s careers page says the state faces “genuine veterinary workforce needs” and cites federal shortage designations for two rural regions, and the Higher Education Department describes a loan repayment program for veterinarians in food-animal practice in designated underserved areas. O*NET OnLine, citing Bureau of Labor Statistics 2025 wage data, lists a higher median annual wage for veterinarians in the Albuquerque area than in New Mexico overall or the United States, and lists the Albuquerque median for veterinary technologists and technicians above the state median and below the national median. The same state rules apply to every Albuquerque employer, so confirm them before the Albuquerque search starts.

  • Licensing and start date: New Mexico bars practice without a New Mexico license, the Board states there is no renewal grace period and the state controlled substance registration requires an active license first, so keep the start date separate from the license date.
  • Jurisprudence examination: the Board requires the New Mexico Veterinary State Examination on jurisprudence, with a passing score of 75 percent, so tell every candidate, including one licensed in another state, to plan for it.
  • Continuing education: Rule 16.25.4 NMAC asks for 15 hours every year, not every two years, so state the paid time and course costs the practice covers and who tracks the hours.
  • Facility license: name the licensee manager or responsible DVM for each hospital, because that person answers to the Board for records, controlled substances and quality of care.
  • Pipeline: the Higher Education Department’s WICHE page says New Mexico students can enroll at selected out-of-state programs that New Mexico public universities do not offer, and it lists veterinary medicine among them, so state any relocation support and the license steps for a candidate trained elsewhere.

Market context is attributed to New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine licensing process for veterinarians, Rule 16.25.2 NMAC on examination and licensure, Rule 16.25.4 NMAC on continuing education, Rule 16.25.6 NMAC on veterinary technicians, Rule 16.25.7 NMAC on facility licenses, Rule 16.25.9 NMAC on minimum standards, New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association careers page, New Mexico Higher Education Department veterinary loan repayment, New Mexico Higher Education Department WICHE loan for service, O*NET OnLine veterinarian wages by area, O*NET OnLine veterinary technician wages by area and O*NET OnLine veterinary assistant wages by area. These are third-party and state sources, not BEGHR claims.

Plan New Mexico credential checks before the start date.

Use the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine license lookup for the relevant professional record. New Mexico licenses veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians through the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine, and each facility holds its own facility license issued by the Board. Assign a person to verify license status and the expiration date, record the verification date and resolve questions with the Board. Check any specialty credentials the employer requires with the issuing organization.

For a candidate moving from another state, review the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine licensing process for veterinarians. Do not treat an out-of-state license or a preferred start date as confirmation that New Mexico requirements are satisfied. New Mexico requires the New Mexico Veterinary State Examination on jurisprudence with a score of 75 percent or higher, and endorsement needs at least five years and 6,000 hours of clinical practice immediately before applying. A controlled substance registration from the Board of Pharmacy and a DEA registration come after the state license. The Board determines eligibility and timing; BEGHR does not issue licenses.

For continuing education, renewal and facility rules, see Rule 16.25.4 NMAC on continuing education and Rule 16.25.7 NMAC on facility licenses.

Veterinary recruitment coverage

Albuquerque and
surrounding communities.

An Albuquerque veterinary search works best when the hospital address comes before the city label. Albuquerque neighborhoods, the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Corrales in Sandoval County, the canyon and highway towns east of the city and the Valencia County towns south of it are different workplaces under different local governments. Business Executive Group uses the employer’s role, schedule and location to scope a permanent search.

Name the street address, municipality and county, and keep Albuquerque’s planning areas separate from the surrounding towns. Several places cross county lines: Rio Rancho reaches Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, and the Census Bureau lists Edgewood under Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties. The town of Bernalillo is in Sandoval County, not Bernalillo County, and the South Valley, the North Valley and Placitas are census designated places, not cities. Coverage on this site is limited to New Mexico; a hospital in another state falls under a different licensing authority.

Central Albuquerque and Near Heights

Albuquerque has 12 City Community Planning Areas, and the Central ABQ, Near Heights and Mid Heights areas hold Old Town, Nob Hill, the International District and Uptown. The City’s Office of Neighborhood Coordination registers neighborhood associations inside these areas, such as the Historic Old Town Association and the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association, so a neighborhood name alone does not identify a hospital. Give the street address and the planning area, and list any Downtown, Barelas or University area site on its own line.

East side and the foothills

The East Gateway planning area names Four Hills and has a boundary with Kirtland Air Force Base, and the Foothills planning area covers the Sandia foothills, open space and trails that lead into the Cibola National Forest. The Four Hills Village Association is registered with the City. Use the hospital’s street address to show which area applies, and list a second site on its own line with its own days.

North Albuquerque and the North Valley

The North ABQ planning area describes rural densities on one-acre platted lots, such as Albuquerque Acres, and the Near North Valley planning area describes a semi-rural area with farm and ranch roots and acequias. The Census Bureau lists the North Valley as a census designated place in Bernalillo County, and Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is a separate village with its own government. Use the hospital address to show which jurisdiction applies, and keep a mobile or large-animal base apart from a fixed hospital.

West Side, South Valley and Mesa del Sol

The Northwest Mesa, West Mesa, Southwest Mesa and Mesa del Sol planning areas cover the west side, the South Valley and the city’s newest development. The Census Bureau lists the South Valley as a census designated place in Bernalillo County, while Corrales is in Sandoval County and Rio Rancho spans Bernalillo and Sandoval counties. A west side address and a South Valley address describe different hospitals, so name the planning area and the county for each role.

Sandoval County

Rio Rancho is a city in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, Corrales is a village in Sandoval County, Bernalillo is a town in Sandoval County and Placitas is a census designated place in Sandoval County. The town of Bernalillo shares its name with Bernalillo County but is not in it, so put the municipality in the hospital address. Sandoval County’s own release describes 3,714 square miles and numerous unincorporated communities, so name the community and the street address for any rural site.

Tijeras Canyon, Edgewood and Moriarty

Tijeras is a village in Bernalillo County, Edgewood is a town that the Census Bureau lists under Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties, and Moriarty is a city in Torrance County. Cedar Crest, Sandia Park and Carnuel are separate census designated places near Tijeras. Name the municipality or community and the county in every brief for this part of the corridor along Interstate 40.

Valencia County

Los Lunas, Bosque Farms and Peralta are a village, a village and a town in Valencia County, and Belen and Rio Communities are cities in the same county, according to the Census Bureau. The Mid-Region Council of Governments counts Valencia County among its four member counties with Bernalillo, Sandoval and Torrance. Los Lunas describes itself as serving Valencia County and as far north as the South Valley in Albuquerque, so name the town and the street address for each role.

Employer questions

Veterinary recruiting questions

Which veterinary positions can Albuquerque employers recruit through BEGHR?

The service covers permanent associate veterinarians, veterinary specialists, emergency DVMs, surgery appointments, medical directors and regional veterinary leaders. Search fit depends on the role, clinical requirements and employer brief. The practice makes the final hiring decision.

Is this for employers hiring veterinarians or for job applications?

This website is for practice owners and employer hiring teams seeking permanent veterinary staff. Its form requests a hiring brief and returns a placement estimate after employer opt-in. It is not an open-jobs directory or a candidate application form.

How does milestone billing work?

Agree the role, estimated fee range, billable milestones and payment terms before the search begins. Recruiting uses an hourly, pay-as-you-go model within the agreed range. BEGHR’s published placement process starts billing after applicants are sent. Invoices follow the agreed cadence, at least monthly during billable service delivery. BEGHR handles client billing and account questions.

Do we pay if a search does not result in a hire?

Milestone billing pays for agreed work as the search progresses, so completed billable milestones may still be payable without a placement. Your client agreement specifies the billing triggers, amounts, due dates and any cancellation terms.

Where can we see our placement price?

Select your role, complete the hiring questions and submit your employer contact details through the pricing form to receive an estimated fee range. BEGHR confirms the role classification, final fee and payment milestones before you engage the service.

How long does placement take?

BEGHR’s placement timeframe is 23–55 days. Timing depends on the role, candidate availability and the employer’s hiring process.

How does BEGHR pricing compare with contingency recruiting?

BEGHR offers placement at typically 50% less than contingency recruiting and 50% off second and subsequent hires for the same role. Use the pricing form for an estimate and confirm your fee and repeat-hire eligibility before starting.

What fill rate does BEGHR report?

BEGHR reports 86% fill rate on active searches across its placement service. This provider-wide figure is not a city-specific or veterinary-only result and does not guarantee an individual hiring outcome.

Who receives my employer inquiry?

Business Executive Group receives your contact information, selected roles, qualification answers, placement estimate and the originating website and page through its existing BEGHR lead intake. This is an employer inquiry, not a candidate job application.

How are placement fees confirmed?

The instant-pricing form uses BEGHR’s role categories and current retail ranges to show an estimate after you submit your employer details. The provider confirms the actual category, scope, payment milestones and commercial terms before a search engagement begins.
